Staying Healthy, Staying Clean: Home Water Filtration Systems
52Water filters are something that everyone can benefit from. Whether it is keeping us healthy or reducing hard water build-up in our homes, water filter systems are beneficial to everyone. You are not limited to one type of filtration system or to expensive bottled water anymore, there are several different kinds of water filtration systems that you can either use in your home or have installed in your home by a professional.
Whole House Filters
One type of water filtration system that is gaining in popularity is whole house water filter system. A whole house water filter is just that, a filter for all the water in your house. The water is circulated through a filter that is installed in a central location and distributes filtered water all over your house. Rather than having a water filter that can only filter small amounts of water, these systems can filter water for an entire home. These systems are generally pricier than smaller systems and are generally a rather serious investment as installation is more complex for a whole house system than for a smaller sink mounted system
Faucet Mounted Systems
Another type of water filter is one that is mounted directly on your faucet and is generally the route that most people go. These filters are inexpensive and can generally be bought in any supermarket or retail store and are great if you are not sure if you want to commit to a whole house system. Another system that is similar to this are filtered water pitchers. These are even more inexpensive than sink mounted filters and are easy to take anywhere. These work by passing water through a filtered lid before it gets to your glass.
Filter Tablets
Yet another option are filter tablets that can be added to water. This option is generally not ideal for everyone and is usually used in countries that have no filtration systems or running water. Filtered water coolers are another route that you can take if you are looking for a filtration system. These are stand-alone units that you can either fill with tap or distilled water. These units filter and often come with the added option of heating or cooling the water before you drink it. Again these are a bit on the pricey side but are well worth it if you have the space and are willing to invest.
Rental Units
If you do not want to purchase a filtered water cooler you can also rent one. There are several merchants both online and in person that offer water cooler rental services. Any of the filtration options above are ideal for filtering your tap water at home. By filtering your own tap water at home you can decrease costs by forgoing bottled water and can make a difference in your health and that of your family. If you are considering purchasing a filtration system it is recommended that you start small and work your way up to the more expensive systems. As always, make sure that the option you choose fulfills the needs that you have and start enjoying healthy, inexpensive filtered water
